This new 34,000 ft² facility is designed to enhance the practical skills of healthcare students. Cutting-edge simulated environments prepare them for real-world clinical scenarios.

Commissioning and handover of advanced simulated training environments.

The building houses the university’s Institute of Health & Allied Professions, offering courses across mental health nursing, paramedic science and public health.

An entire floor simulates diverse healthcare settings, including hospital wards and home care scenarios.

Given the facility’s complexity, we ensured the system commissioning was thoroughly completed before handover, despite delays in balancing systems.

The mechanical commissioning ran concurrently with other handover tasks, achieving timely project completion.

We’ve since implemented a practice of preparing for handover from the onset of projects.

Making it a key agenda item in pre-start and monthly progress meetings leads to continuous improvement.

Stakeholder and end user engagement to maximise flexible learning spaces.

Forming working groups to ensure all voices were heard shaped the cohesive strategy for this project.

The facility features versatile teaching areas and removable seating in lecture theatres, fostering innovative educational methods like role-playing.

We ensured project success by securing a clearly defined brief through comprehensive stakeholder and end-user engagement, aligning all needs and objectives.

A project sponsor guided strategic decisions, adjudicating competing requirements.

Working groups captured and addressed recorded adjacencies and dependencies from all perspectives.

By balancing requirements with desirable extras, we developed a cohesive strategy that aligned with the budget.

This ensured a streamlined and successful project outcome.
