A 2,000 square metre extension to allow this centre for arts to expand its community engagement and performances. Levelling Up funding is behind the West Midlands project.

Establishing clear lines of communication.

EDGE developed a bespoke governance structure to ensure clear lines of communication. This structure has resulted in an effective and efficient pre-construction period. Its success meant the theatre project was submitted for planning in summer 2024.

We also worked in collaboration with the wider team to complete extensive pre-application consultation for the proposed planning application.

This engagement led to a simplified design for the new build extension, connecting it to the existing building in a more sympathetic way.

Continuously monitored and accurate cost reporting.

Implementing robust cost reporting processes and value engineering have driven this project forward.

Our approach has ensured the project cost plan is continuously monitored and accurately reported against.

Leading a Value Engineering exercise during RIBA Stage 2 also reduced the capital cost of the extension by seven per cent.

We maintained the objective of creating a facility that meets the strategic levelling-up objectives for increasing community engagement.

Through implementation of these procedures, EDGE ensured the client had a resilient and accurate project cost plan.
This allowed for project progression through to the tender stage.
