Making Aldi’s first Blade-style store concept affordable through collaboration and value engineering. This set a new standard for their roll-out programme, enabling 50 store openings per year.

Value engineering to ensure the concept was brought to life.

We supported the project team to undertake a thorough value engineering assessment.

This ensured the project was affordable and did not compromise the store size or internal fit out elements.

These factors are key to Aldi’s Blade concept, a store constructed in a steel framed structure.

To meet the requirements, we thoroughly reviewed elements such as steel design, external lobby design, roof and cladding specifications.

Engagement and collaboration with supply chain to ensure affordability.

Our collaborative approach to this project provided Aldi with £300,000 of cost savings on their new store concept.

We undertook early and continued engagement with contractors and our supply chain partners to holistically review all available design options.

This thorough assessment and approach ensured the elevations maintained their original look and feel at a much more affordable price-point.

Additionally, we developed bespoke documents tailored specifically to Aldi’s processes. These customised cost reports and documents streamline workflows, ensuring efficient communication and execution across all stages of the project.
